Jerzy Osika
owner & CEO, Promedia
Jerzy Osika is the owner & CEO of Promedia that organises multi-sector conferences, trade fairs, seminars and workshops dedicated to industries like fashion and interior design. Osika is also the publisher and editor-in-chief of four trade magazines and web portals dealing in the fashion and interior design. He is also a lecturer at international trade fairs in Poland and abroad. Osika advises companies and runs trainings in sales, marketing, visual merchandising, consumer trends and foreign markets. He has trained Polish furniture exporters and companies from the fashion industry under the governmental Industry Promotion Program. He is a representative of Poland in the Council of Experts of the world competition Euroshop Retail Design Award. He also plays a key role as an organiser of trade missions including the International Housewares Association from Chicago. As a member of the Polish Council of Shopping Centers and the Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry, he cooperates with domestic and foreign business organisations.
Mohammad Alawi

Mohammad Alawi is an industry veteran who wears many hats; he is currently the chairman of shopping malls committee, Jeddah Chamber KSA, as well as chairman & partner at Saudi Sand Souvenir Co and B&T Brands and Trade Services Middle East DMCC. Alawi comes with over 25 years of experience in creating successful developments and renovating existing retail properties in Saudi Arabia. With well-versed skills and persistent follow-up in operations and marketing, Alawi created two epic retail shopping centres in Saudi Arabia – Hera Community Mall and Red Sea Mall in Jeddah. He also carries in his career a portfolio of eight other shopping malls which were developed during his tenure with Savola. During his illustrious career, Alawi has been part of Al Amoudi, Majid Al Futtaim and SKAB. He is also a member with the promotions and events committee at JCCI and a member with the National Saudi Tourism Board in Riyadh.
Roy Higgs
founder emeritus, DDG
Born and educated in London, Roy Higgs has provided master planning and creative services for retail, entertainment, leisure/resort, office, residential and mixed- use projects across the US and around the world. Of particular note is his creation of highly successful projects in Turkey. Some of these include Istinye Park, Akmerkez (original), Akaysa, Kasimpasa Town Center, Ülker Sports Arena and the Mall of Istanbul, among others under construction. Roy’s professional affiliations are extensive. He was invited to join the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as a Fellow in 2010. Equally active at home and overseas, Roy was named a recipient of the Maryland State Award for International Business Leadership. He is a regularly invited lecturer in Advanced International Real Estate Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C., Georgetown University and the Carey School of Business at the University of Maryland.

Brad Merchant
director of retail asset management, Aldar Properties PJSC
Brad Merchant is the director of retail asset management at Aldar Properties PJSC where he leads the property management, leasing and retail delivery teams responsible for more than seven million square feet of retail and mixed-use space across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Kazakhstan. The portfolio includes the highly successful super-regional Yas Mall; the mixed-use World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi; Al Jimi Mall, currently under expansion in Al Ain; the sizable one million square feet community retail portfolio; and the exciting Abu Dhabi Plaza, mixed-use project scheduled to open in June 2017 in Astana, Kazakhstan. Merchant has more than 25 years shopping centre experience, having previously worked with two of Canada’s leading property developers and more recently with a major developer based in Dubai. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and has attained both his Certified Shopping Centre Manager (CSM) and Senior Certified Shopping Centre Manager (SCSM) designations from the International Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC).
Christian Wistrom
General Manager – leasing at GLA Management
Christian Wistrom serves as general manager – leasing at GLA Management, a Tamdeen Group Company and is responsible for developing and implementing the leasing strategy for the portfolio of assets. Wistrom has been responsible for leasing over 2.5 million square meters of investment grade retail shopping centres. He has exceptionally strong relationships with international brands, including working with established international brands new to foreign markets. Prior to joining GLA Management, Wistrom served as the head of leasing for Inter IKEA Centre Group China based in Shanghai. Prior to moving to Shanghai, Wistrom served as the head of leasing for IKEA MOS ‘MEGA’ Shopping Centres based in Moscow, Russia. He is also a co-founder and owner of the Swedish commercial real estate firm of Lundberg & Kock where he leased and sold 100,000’s of square meters of commercial real estate. He started his real estate career as a project manager for an award-winning architectural firm based in Sweden specialising in interior architecture and design.
Frank-Matthias Kuntermann
CEO, ABC Group
Frank-Matthias Kuntermann was appointed CEO of ABC Group in August 2017. An accomplished business leader, Kuntermann has been deputy CEO since November 2016 after having joined ABC in 2013 as COO. With his in-depth knowledge of the retail industry, he drove ABC’s strategic vision and development and has brought new practices to the company primarily centred on enhancing customer experience. He has also been instrumental in expanding the group’s brand portfolio. During his tenure, the recent renovation of the ABC Achrafieh Department Store was completed, ultimately bringing new standards to the retail industry in Lebanon. Prior to joining ABC, Kuntermann was with Hermès Middle East. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche in France before moving to the perfume and cosmetics industry where he managed the sales and export of brands Marina de Bourbon and Mauboussin. Kuntermann has been a trade advisor to the French government since 2005, and is a board member of Retail Inc. in Lebanon.
Mohamed Galal
President & CEO, Tasweeq Shopping Malls, Egypt
Mohamed Galal is the president & CEO of Tasweeq Shopping Malls in Egypt. Galal has been in the Egyptian market since 2009, and has contributed to several successful mall developments, and retail launches with primary focus on the development of hypermarket-anchored mall developments in the secondary cities of Mansoura, Assyut, Zagazig, Banha, Tanta, Port Said and Mahallaa. Galal started his career in mall management with Majid Al Futtaim Misr launching Maadi City Centre and Alexandria City Centre. Dandy Mega Mall was his next success story acting as the CEO for the Dandy Development Company. Then he launched Capital Zayed, a strategically located mixed-use project as executive director for Dorra Group Egypt, which was followed by the successful launch of Sodic Egypt – unique commercial projects of Eastown & Westown allied with Solidere International. This was followed by the award-wining residential golf-anchored luxury compound Allegria and Katameya Plaza, Autoville the Strip and The Showrooms now Desigopolis.
